Étude De L’effet Antidiabétique D’une Formulation Polyherbale, Utilisée Dans La Médecine Traditionnelle De La Région D’adrar, Sur Le Rat Wistar
Résumé: Herbal medicine is a traditional practice that dates back to prehistoric times. The therapeutic virtues of medicinal plants are particularly associated with their secondary metabolites. In the Adrar region, a polyherbal formulation (PHF) (based on Citrullus colocynthis, Punica granatum L, Coriandrum sativum, Juniperus thurifera L., Foeniculum vulgare, and Artemisia herba-alba)is often prescribed for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The objective of this present work is to make a phyto-chemical screening, to determine the phenolic composition, to evaluate the antioxidant power, in vitro, and antidibetic, in vivo on the Wistar rat, of the infusion of this PHF.Phytochemical tests of PHF extract reveal the presence of polyphenols, terpenoids, and saponosides. Colorimetric assays reveal the richness of PHF in polyphenols, flavonoids, and tannins condensed with levels of 10.20 mg EAG/g MS, 4.66 mg EC/g MS, and 0.48 mg EC/g MS, respectively. The DPPH test showed that the crude extract of FPH has high anti-radical power with an EC50 value of 0.0087 mg/ml In vivo experiments, which lasted 28 days, showed that the infusion of PHF decreases the symptoms of diabetes caused by streptozotocin (STZ), a diabetogen agent administered at 60 mg/kg.Moreover, we found a noticeable improvement in diabetic rats treated with the infusion of PHF revealed by a fasting blood glucose of 2.4825 g / l, a triglyceridimie of 0.39 g / l, and a level of aspartate-aminsotransferase (ASAT) of 183.5 IU / l compared to untreated diabetic rats in which we recorded a fasting blood glucose of 6.0725 g / l, a triglyceridimia of 0.455 g/l, and a level of aminsotransferase(AST) of 183.5 IU/l compared to untreated diabetic rats in which we recorded a fasting blood glucose of 6.0725 g/l, a triglyceridimia of 0.455 g/l, and an aminsotransferase level of 290 IU/l Based on the results of this work, it can be concluded that the FPH studied has an antidiabetic effect.
