Résumé: قدمت هذه المقالة إيجازًا لما قدمه القدماء والمحدثون عن النون الساكنة والتنوين وسلوكها مع الغنة، فمن خلال ما قدمه القدماء من تعريفات وتفصيلات لسلوك الغنة لاحظنا إدراكهم لسلوكها المستقل من خلال تحديدهم لمخرج النون ومخرج الغنة بشكل منفصل لكل منهما؛ فالنون طرفية، والغنة من الخيشوم على قول سيبويه ومن تبعه، والتي تحولت إلى الأنفية عند المحدثين. تبعًا لنظرية استقلالية القطع فإن الغنة تسلك سلوكًا مستقلا عن النون؛ لأنها تحذف وتبقى غنتها، وخلصنا في هذه الدراسة إلى وجود تماثل جلي بين مفهومي القدماء والمحدثين في نظرتهم لسلوك الغنة، والذي يعبر عن دقة وصف القدماء لأصوات لغتهم؛ فالإنتاج العري القديم اشتغل فيه الطبيب الفيزيائي اللغوي قارئ القرآن لتكون النتائج دقيقة دقة شبه مختبرية.
