Résumé: ملخص : يعتبر حمدان بن عثمان خوجة من أبرز الناشطين السياسيين، فهو ينتمي إلى بيئة علمية ساهمت في صقل شخصيته فكان له العديد من المؤلفات ومن بينها كتاب "المرآة" الذي كان يعتبر من أهم المصادر التي درست تاريخ الجزائر الحديث والمعاصر، من الجانب الاقتصادي والإجتماعي. اعتبر حمدان خوجة نفسه وسيطا لتمثيل الجزائريين والدفاع عن حقوقهم، فقد لعب دورا كبيرا في رفع القضية الجزائرية نظرا لأوضاع الجزائريين والقمع المسلط عليهم من طرف سلطة الاحتلال، كما أنه عمل على إصلاح الأوضاع آنذاك. بحيث أنه وفق في وصف الواقع الاجتماعي والاقتصادي للجزائر خلال أواخر العهد العثماني وبداية الاحتلال الفرنسي، كما أنه زودنا بمعلومات وإحصائيات دقيقة وضح من خلال التغيرات التي حدثت في هذين الجانبين من تراجع وتقهقر مما أدى إلى معاناة الشعب الجزائري. الكلمات المفتاحية :حمدان خوجة ، كتاب المرآة ، تاريخ الجزائر ، الاحتلال الفرنسي.
