Legal Awareness Among Journalists Of Private Television Channels -reconnaissance Study In Kind From Journalists Of Private Television Channels In Algeria.
Résumé: This study examined the extent to which journalists from private television channels in Algeria were informed of their social rights under the Labour Relations Act as employees and how they were aware of how to benefit from it, how to claim them in case of need in the almost total absence of the social aspect of organic law 05-12 on information, and even the basic law of journalists provided for in the same law has not been born. This study is part of the descriptive studies. We relied on the survey method of a sample of 93 journalists who work on television channels through various socio-cultural variables: gender, specialization and professional experience in the media field. The study found that most journalists lack legal knowledge because they do not know their rights under the 1990 labour law. This is the right to benefit from social security, and even this right is partially or totally neglected in order to maintain their position on a private television channel. Few are aware of certain rights, and when they are, they are unaware of the limits of their use and how to claim them in the context of what is guaranteed by law. Added to this, most journalists of different variables have not claimed their rights such as the right to promotion and training throughout their journey in the channel.
