The Implementation Of Dualism In U.s.foreign Policy

Résumé: Dualism is considered as one of the main strategies that the United States conducts for the sake of achieving its needs in its foreign policy. The basics and fundamentals of this policy are deeply rooted in the U.S. history since the nations, from its early independence, centered the network of its international relations on interests. The policy of dualism was omnipresent along the different administrations for nothing but perpetuating and ensuring the american worldwide hegemony. Historically, this policy was implemented in many cases (countries and organizations). The cases of Iraq and Iran are the examples whereby the american policy is well- conducted. This research attempts to examine and analyze the way whereby this double-faced policy is exercised throughout the case of the Taliban. It shows that the course of american foreign policy required favorable relations with the Taliban during the early 1970's and the beginning of the 1980's and tensional ones following the previous period. The examination of events related to be the case of Taliban and others shows that America attempted to use this policy neither to fight global terrorism nor rogue states and WMD but to serve one of its highest priorities, the american interests, regardless to the price it has to pay.
