A Comprehensive Analysis Of Listening And Speaking Challenges: The Case Of Second-year Lmd Students At Naama University Center
Résumé: In various EFL academic contexts, a significant number of EFL learners aspire to acquire proficiency in oral communication skills as crucial elements for fluency and accuracy. Thus, EFL learners often need help to communicate effectively in the target language as an ultimate goal. However, they frequently encounter challenges in developing their listening and speaking skills. As this issue has recently been of concern to many researchers in the field, this study examines the difficulties that EFL students at Naama University Center face when striving to improve their listening and speaking abilities. Therefore, two research instruments have been designed to investigate listening/speaking difficulties faced by 2nd year LMD students: observation and proficiency testing. Consequently, the mixed-methods approach used has provided a comprehensive analysis of the obstacles impeding the development of these crucial language skills, combining quantitative assessments and qualitative results. These findings, which might update the list of FL communication hindrances, can inform educators about how to develop/establish more effective strategies to enhance EFL students' listening and speaking skills by targeting specific areas that require attention, evaluation, and remedy/reform.
