"antioxidant Efficiency Of Probiotic Bacteria And Their Role In Reducing Drug Toxicity"
Résumé: Probiotic have attracted a lot of attention aiming to develop natural non-toxic antioxidants, because of their role in decreasing the risk of reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the antioxidant activity of a probiotic Streptococcus salivarius ssp thermophillus St.sa in vitro and to evaluate the protective effect of St.sa against the oxidative stress induced by a toxic dose drugs (paracetamol and diclofenac) in Wistar rats. The results demonstrated a good inhibitory effect against plasma lipid peroxidation (54.36%). Also, had shown a considerable ability to scavenge DPPH free radical (89.43%) and it had also a good resistance to hydroxyl radicals (47%) and considerable ability to chelate iron ions (33.21%). On the other hand, the selected strain had protective effect against oxidative stress induced by paracetamol in liver and by diclofenac in both liver and stomach. Results clearly emphasize the protective role of probiotics against ROS generated during the treatment with the tow studied drugs
