Profil Epidemiologique, Clinique Et Therapeutique Des Piqures De Scorpion Graves A L'hopital Mohammed Boudiaf D'ouargla 2018-2021

Résumé: Algeria, like other countries in North Africa, the Middle East and South America, is one of the regions most affected by scorpionicenvenimation. The wilaya of Ouargla is one of the regions known for the proliferation of scorpions which threatens public health, it belong the triangle of death, with the cities of Boussaada and Biskra. The objective of this study is to describe the epidemiological profile, the clinical and therapeutic aspects of scorpion stings admitted to the intensive care unit of the public hospital establishment MouhammedBoudiafOuargla. Methodology : This is a retrospective descriptive study involving 77 patients admitted to the intensive care unit of thepublic hospital establishment MouhammedBoudiafOuargla during the period from January 2018 to December 2021. Results : the most affected age group is between 15 and 49 years old with an average age of 27,42%. The male sex is more exposed (sex-ratio 1,26). The stings occurred mainly at night, we noted a peak in frequency during the summer season. The clinical signs frequently reported were: hypersweating (55,2%) , vomiting (55,22%) , priapism (37,8%), crackling rales (34,3%) , hypotension (28,4%) , 83,6% of our patients belong to classe III. The main echocardiographicabnormalities are hypokinesia and low ejection fraction with a percentage of 56,1% and 52,6% respectively. Current management is based on antiscorpionique immunotherapy in addition to symptomatic treatment. 83,6% of sever envenomers received Dobutamine. There is a good evolution in 81,8% of patients against 18,2% of deaths with a higher percentage in the pediatric population. The leading cause of death was cardiorespiratory. Conclusion : Prevention and sensitizationis an essential step in the national strategy to combact scorpion stings.
