Résumé: This research aims to study the reality of participation in the political and social work of the students of Laghouat University in terms of the size of attendance in these areas by measuring the ability of university youth to engage in social work and political parties. The study includes a sample of 50 university students enrolled in the academic year 2018/2019 from different levels: psychology, education, sociology, Law and foreign languages. The Purposive Sample was used where a questionnaire was distributed to students who are supposed to have the characteristics of assistance to participate in two areas. The sample consisted of students belonging to inactive student organization in the university; these two organizations are the Free Student Union and the Free Algerian Student Gathering. The results of this study show that there is a difference in the level of participation across the level of activity in the political and social work between the two student organizations. The Free Student Union was better in all the variables related to participation in both the political and the social work, with a great weakness to participate in the collective work of the free Algerian Students Gathering.
