Résumé: Many plants are known for their use in traditional medicine, for the treatment of several pathologies including diseases with inflammatory and healing components. The aim of this study was to formulate an ointment based on a mixture of two medicinal plant extracts (Bioglucumin): 1,3 β glucan from the fungus Hericium erinaceus and Curcumin from Curcuma Longa, to evaluate the healing activity, on open wounds induced by excision in Wistar rats. Thus, evaluated the acute toxicity on Swiss albino mice at a single dose of 5000 mg/Kg body weight. In addition, biochemical analyses to study the main toxic effects on tissues and in particular on the Liver, Kidneys and Brain were performed on blood samples taken from all animals just before sacrifice. Thus, the liver, kidneys and brain were collected after sacrifice for microscopic observations and histological analysis. Open wounds of 2 cm2 in diameter were created on the back of the animal. All products were applied topically as ointments. The test was started on the day of wound creation until all animals in all batches had healed for 21 days. The parameters studied were wound areas using the direct planimetry method, as well as the percentage of inhibition. The application of the ointment was performed every day and measurements were taken every three days for 21 days. The results show that the aqueous extract of Bioglucumin does not induce any toxic effect and no signs of mortality or coma. Also, histopathological examinations of the organs did not reveal any negative pathological changes compared to the control organs. Bioglucumin ointment applied to the skin showed no signs of inflammation (erythema or edema) on the back of the rats. The results of healing activity exhibited healing observed after 21 days of treatment with an inhibition percentage of 96.96 and 97.82℅ for Bioglucumin 5 and10℅ respectively. 97.28% for Madecassol, 82.07% for Excipient, 78.14% for control group. However, the effect showed statistically significant activity compared to the control. Therefore, the results obtained from the application of Bioglucumin cream show that this extract accelerates wound healing and presents a healing activity. Eventually, it could be that it exerts its activity by accelerating hemostasis, decreasing the inflammatory phase, which favors the acceleration of the reepithelialization phase. The histopathology study on the skin tissue of rats confirms the healing effect of the aqueous extract of Bioglucumin. The results of this study show the therapeutic potential of Bioglucumin aqueous extract in wound healing.
