Impact Of Financial System Reforms On Financial Development In Algeria

Résumé: Abstract The objective of this paper is to review policy reforms implementation in different time periods by the government of Algeria for financial development, and to show the extent to which these reforms enhanced the Algerian financial sector development by using various financial development indicators of different segments of the Algerian financial sector. It is found that the central bank of Algeria has lost relative importance graduallywhich led to increase the central bank independence.However, it is urgent to dismantle financial repression and expand the role of competition and free market forces in banking andfinancial systems. تهدف هذه الورقة الى تسليط الضوء على اهم الاصلاحات المالية التي تم تبنيها من قبل الحكومة الجزائرية في اطار النهوض بالقطاع المالي، ومدى مساهمة هذه الاصلاحات في تعزيز وتطوير هذا القطاع ، حيث تم استخدام عدد من مؤشرات التطور المالي التي تمس مختلف جوانب القطاع المالي. وقد اظهرت النتائج ان هذه الاصلاحات تمكنت من تعزيز استقلالية البنك المركزي ، ومع ذلك هناك ضرورة لإزالة الكبح المالي ودعم دور المنافسة وقوى السوق في النظام المالي والبنكي على حد سواء.
