Résumé: The present article is intended to thoroughly and comprehensively examine the image of America in Walt Whitman’s eyes and poetry. In addition, this paper principally deals with the religious and secular ideas that shaped Whitman’s exceptional view of America. Moreover, it attempts to give a thoroughly deep analysis of Walt Whitman's long poem, Passage to India focusing on what makes America, according to Whitman of course, a unique, universal, and exceptional nation and, then, be the best democratic country that all the world should strive for. تعالج هذه الورقة البحثية صورة أمريكا أو العالم الجديد عند و في شعر وولت ويتمان الملقب بشاعر الديمقراطية الأمريكية. يرتكز المقال على تحليل قصيدته " المرور إلى الهند" و التي يصور فيها الأمة الجديدة على أنها استثنائية و ذات صفات إلاهية و يعتبر التقدم التكنولوجي لأمريكا كجزء من الخطة الإلهية التي تتضمن قيادة أمريكا لكل شعوب العالم إلى نهاية التاريخ
