Résumé: الملخص: تسعى هذه المداخلة إلى الكشف عن إسهامات العلامة (محمد بن شنب 1869-1929) في المحافظة على مخطوطات التراث العربي والإسلامي بأسلوب معاصر في زمن كادت تتهاوى فيه فكرة الهوية والقومية وزالت فيه سيادة الدولة خلال فترة الاحتلال الفرنسي للجزائر. وتجلت حمايته لمخطوطات ذلك التراث في إهتمامه بالكتب التي كانت في المسجد الكبير بالجزائر العاصمة بعد أن حولها الفرنسيون بعد 1830 إلى مكتبة الجزائر الرئيسية. Abstract This intervention seeks to reveal the contributions of the scholar (Muhammad Ibn Shanab 1869-1929) in preserving manuscripts of Arab and Islamic heritage in a contemporary manner at a time when the idea of identity and nationalism almost collapsed and the state's sovereignty disappeared during the period of the French occupation of Algeria. His protection of the manuscripts of that heritage was evident in his interest in the books that were in the Great Mosque of Algiers, after the French converted it after 1830 to the main library of Algiers
