Abstract: This study aimed to review the suitability of the theory of the spiral of silence in the context of the virtual space, by identifying the network features that contribute to motivating the individual to express his opinions and positions freedom, which contributes to the retraction of the spiral of silence, And knowing the factors that hinder the individual in expressing his opinion, and make him take a position of silence , The review reveals that the spiral of silence across the virtual space is weakened as a result of many of the characteristics offered by the network, such as affiliation groups, anonymity and the absence physical presence, On the other hand, its effectiveness emerges as a result of the of many political, psychological and social and behavioral factors that affect the virtual communication,, Such as self-censorship, fear of isolation, exclusion, abuse and conflict.
