Résumé: Theater has been throughout the ages the most important art that has expressed the thoughts and feelings of humans and everything related to his life. In fact, when it first appeared with the Greeks, the theater was associated with ceremonial rituals in which offerings were submitted to the gods. It would later develop into incorporating myths which became important sources in the writings of many playwrights around the world. Arab playwrights for example have used these myths in their plays through making a parallel between them and their reality. In this way it became a cultural heritage that has symbolic dimensions and related to the people’s thought that is preserved through drama for the later generations. Amongst the Arab playwrights who have done so is Mahmoud Timur in his paly Sleazier than the Devil.
