Why Algeria Needs A Supply Side Economic Policy?

Résumé: Algeria implemented a demand side economic policy during the period of 2001-2014, and it led to positive results in economic growth and employment in a comparison to the period of 1995-2000. However, its effects on the national economy were in the short run and don’t acheive a valuable contribution to build a real economy that can creats wealth and jobs in the long run. The facts in the national economy show that the main problems in the Algerian economy are structural rather than be summarized in a decrease in aggregate demand. The supply side economic policy then is the right choice, it should be based on developing competitiveness level and resources allocation efficiency by reforming the products market, and raising labor productivity with the rate of participation by reforming the labor market
