Latent Vulnerability In Postcolonial Children’s Literature: “where The Streets Had A Name” As A Case Study
Résumé: This work delves into the significance of children in societies and acknowledges their vulnerability to the harsh realities of war. As the study focuses on children's literature in colonized regions, it aims at exploring the psychological impact of war and atrocities on the development of children's personalities. It seeks to emphasize the importance of using literature to voice the sufferings of these young individuals and to provide aid to those living in fear. The specific focus is on Palestinian children, who have been deeply affected by an ongoing conflict, despite limited media attention. The case study centers around Hayaat, the protagonist of the Palestinian novel 'Where the Streets Had a Name' by Randa Abdel-Fattah. Hayaat's experiences as a witness to atrocity, murder, injury, and trauma will be examined in this research.
