دور سلاح الهندسة العسكرية في بداية الاحتلال الفرنسي للجزائر The Role Of The Military Engineering Corps At The Beginning Of The French Occupation Of Algeria

Résumé: كان لسلاح الهندسة العسكرية لجيش الاحتلال الفرنسي دور فعال حتى قبل الحملة على الجزائر سنة 1830، حيث كانت فرنسا تخطط لكيفية إنجاح حملتها من خلال التجسس على الإيالة. أما بعد الحملة فقد ساهم هذا السلاح في تسهيل عمليات الجيش الفرنسي، بل تعدى دوره إلى البحث في تاريخ الجزائر، خاصة فترة الاحتلال الروماني، بغرض إضفاء الشرعية لاحتلالهم. أما من الجانب العسكري فقد قاموا بتخطيط مدن جديدة وإعادة استخدام المدن القديمة ومنشآتها العسكرية لمواجهة المقاومات الشعبية. وينتهي المقال بإظهار التغييرات السلبية التي أجراها هذا السلاح على الطابع العمراني في الجزائر. The military engineering corps of the French occupation army had an active role even before the campaign against Algeria in 1830, when France was planning how to make its campaign successful by spying on the Regency of Algiers. After the campaign, this corps helped facilitating the operations of the French army, and even went beyond its role to research the history of Algeria, especially the period of the Roman occupation, with the aim of legitimizing French occupation. On the military side, they planned new cities and re-used the old cities and their military facilities to confront the popular resistance movements. The article ends by showing the negative changes made by this corps on the Algeria’s urban character.
