Résumé: The French administration of the Algerian tribes 1830-1870 The aim of the present study is to reveal the Algerian tribes’ condition amidst the intrusive foreign authority of the French colonialism, and how this latter sought to install its might on the tribes’ lands through a series of divisions and administrative organizations imposed on the tribes and their leaders. In fact, the headship of the leaders diminished gradually in front of the emergence of the French infiltration via the establishment of the military centers, colonies, and the appearance of the municipal system and the emergence of new cities.
