Contribution À L’étude Phytochimique Et Évaluation De L’activité Antioxydante D’une Plante Médicinale Randonia Africana Coss

Résumé: Medicinal plants always had an important place in the therapeutic arsenal of mankind with their huge reservoir of bioactive molecules. In this context, the present study aimed to determine the phenolic compounds and the antioxidant capacity of the medicinal plant, Randonia africana in the Algerian Sahara. The phenolic compounds were extracted by simple maceration in a ternary solvent system: MeOH/acetone/water (7/7/6V/V/V). The power of a medicinal plant from the Algerian Sahara, Randonia africana. determination of total polyphenols was carried out by the Folin-Ciocalteu method, that of flavonoids by the aluminium chloride test and condensed tannins by the vanillin test. Antioxidant activity was assessed by the DPPH test. The ternary extract showed an extraction yield of 19.4% and contents of total polyphenols, flavonoids and condensed tannins were 5.972 ± 0.05 mg EAG/g DM, 0.86 ± 0.07 mg EC/g DM and 1.287 mg EC/g DM, respectively. The antioxidant activity of Randonia africana in the DPPH test, revealed an EC50 of 0.092 mg/ml and a trolox antioxidant activity of 846 μM ET/100g DM. The whole results suggest that the antioxidant activity could be linked to the total phenolics composition and especially to condensed tannins.
