Exploring Linguistic Intelligence And Translation Mastery Relationships The Case Of Second Year Efl Students At M'sila University
Résumé: The present study addresses some cognitive aspects of individual differences that influence foreign language learning. The research attempts to investigate the relationship between one type of intelligence that is referred to as linguistic intelligence and Translation mastery. To achieve the objectives of this study, the mixed research method design incorporating both correlational and descriptive methods were used. First, for the correlational research, the data were collected through distributing Linguistic Intelligence test and Translation Mastery Task of researchers opted for a Linguistic Intelligence Test for a sample of 41 students from a population of 195 second-year students at the Department of Letters and English, Mohamed Boudhiaf University, M’sila. 41 students answered the (IQV) Test, but only 30 students answered the (TM) Test to generate the necessary data that was processed and analyzed by researchers and confirmed through SPSS version 23. On the other hand, the researchers determined and categorized the students’ linguistic intelligence levels from high to low in a table and histogram (Normal curve distribution) from SPSS -V23. In addition, the study employed a TMT to evaluate and analyze individuals’ translation competencies, for the descriptive part of the research. The findings revealed an existing statistically significant moderate positive correlation with 0,368* value at the significance level p=0,045
