Inventaire Des Cultivars De Palmier Dattier (phoenix Dactylifera L.) Dans La Wilaya De Timimoun
Résumé: The objective of this work is to identify and characterize date palm cultivars (Phoenix dactylifera L.) in the Matarfa palm orchard. Our study is based on field surveys with farmers about the characteristics of cultivar identification. This study identified 26 types. The importance of varietal diversity varies with different types of farms. Thus, the conventional farms contain all the inventory varieties. On the other hand, the newly developed farms still retain varietal diversity, even if it is less significant (16 varieties). Four taxa of economic importance are Tilemsu, Tegazza, Tinnacer, and Takarbouchet, the other taxa are endangered because they are old and no longer produce suckers. In situ conservation under natural conditions is the best way to combat genetic erosion.
