Résumé: لكل قاعدة قانونية مصدر يكون هو الأساس القانوني الذي تستند عليه، وتختلف هذه المصادر بين مصادر أصلية وبين مصادر احتياطية، والقانون الدولي للبيئة شأنه شأن غيره من القواعد القانونية له مصادر يستند عليها إضافة الى المصادر الاصلية والاحتياطية (التفسيرية)، نجد هناك مصادر مستحدثة منها التصرفات الانفرادية للدول وقرارات المنظمات الدولية، هذه الأخيرة والتي وان شكلت جدلا فقهيا حول مدى الزاميتها الا أنها ولا سيما في المجال البيئي ساهمت في تطوير قواعده وفي بناء أسسه وهو ما اثبتته مختلف القرارات التي صدرت عن المنظمات الدولية.
