Résumé: لقد إقتنع الفرنسيون بضرورة الربط التاريخي بين العهد الروماني وحاضر الاحتلال الفرنسي في الجزائر، إذ سعى هذا الأخير بكل ما يملك من قوة ونفوذ لأجل تمجيد وتعظيم حضارة الرومان، واعتبار الوجود الفرنسي هو بمثابة تتمة للوجود الروماني، فعملوا على تأكيد ذلك وإعطاء الشرعية لاحتلالهم، فسعوا واجتهدوا في إظهار عظمة الانجازات وكل ما له صلة بالتراث الروماني من خلال إحياء وكشف كل الشواهد المادية التي أنجزها أسلافهم فيما سبق والتنقيب عن كل المخلفات والآثار العمرانية المنتمية للرومان والبيزنطيين في المنطقة، قاصدين بذلك إعادة تثمين الماضي اللاتيني القديم وتمجيده، في مقابل إنكار أصل وهوية وتاريخ الشعب الجزائري. ومن أجل تحقيق ذلك عملوا على طمس ومحو معظم المعالم المادية الجزائرية التي تعود إلى العهد الإسلامي عامة والعهد العثماني خاصة، فكانت نتيجتها أن تعرضت المدن الجزائرية لعمليات الهدم والتخريب في منشآتها الحضارية والمعمارية والتاريخية، فهدمت المساجد وحولت أخرى إلى كنائس وثكنات وأغراض أخرى، وخُربت الشوارع وأسقطت القصبات، وبالتالي نفذت فرنسا مخططها الإجرامي المتمثل في القضاء على المقومات الروحية والمادية للجزائر، زاعمة من وراء ذلك إعادة مجد أسلافها، واثبات أن شمال إفريقيا بما فيها الجزائر هي امتداد للحضارة الرومانية قبل أن تكون عربية إسلامية، مما كان لهذه السياسة انعكاسات خطيرة على حاضر ومستقبل الجزائر بصفة عامة. ABSTRACT: Since the beginning of the French occupation of Algeria, French colonialism has sought with all its power and influence in order to prove that the country of Algeria is a roman land and their subordinate, and the presence of the French amounts to complete the roman presence, sot they worked hard to show the greatness of the achievements and everything related to the roman heritage by revining and revealing all the material evidence that their predecessors had brought in the above and by excavating all the urban remains and monuments belonging to roman byzantine in the region, with the intention of reassessing and glorifying the ancient Latin past. And for this, they worked to erase most of the Algerian monuments dating from the Islamic era in general and the ottoman era in particular, as result of which Algerian cities were subjected to demolition operations and of sabotage in their cultural, urban and historical facilities, and mosques were demolished and turned into churches and barracks, and streets were ravaged. Claming From behind this to restore the glory of its ancestors, and to prove that north africa, including algeria, is an extention of the roman civilisation before it was an arab islamic, which had serious repercussions for this policy on the present and the future of algeia in general.
