Protection Of Underwater Cultural Heritage In International Law

Résumé: Abstract : Underwater cultural heritage represents one of the most prominent aspects in which cultural heritage is embodied, because it contains valuable cultural properties that represent historical monuments that cannot be replaced in any way. The fait accompli prompted countries to redouble their efforts in order to surround this category of cultural property with adequate legal protection by tightly regulating it in various international conventions related to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, perhaps the most prominent of which is the united Nations convention concerning the law of the sea of 1982, and the Convention for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage of 2001, which the question of their effectiveness has been raised on more than one occasion.
